Sleep Problems

Insomnia can occur in different forms.
This may involve difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep, or waking up too early.
Physical complaints during the night can also be very disruptive to sleep. Insomnia is a recurring problem for many people and can become a vicious circle, which often causes stress.
The treatments are also very suitable for sleep problems in children.

Healthy Sleep

Night is the time of rest for body and mind, recovery of the body and its organs and processing the stimuli acquired during the day.

Sufficient sleep contributes to good health and sufficient energy to cope with the day and the necessary activity. If one has poor sleep for a long time or regularly, does not feel rested during the day, has difficulty concentrating, is irritable or depressed, this is referred to as a sleep problem.

What constitutes sufficient sleep varies from person to person. Some people can function well with 5 hours of sleep per night, others really need 8 hours to wake up rested.
Too much sleep is also not good for energy levels, sleeping more than 9 hours is usually too much under normal circumstances.

Insomnia; Chinese views

In Chinese medicine, a lot revolves around yin and yang, the soothing and active energy. These two should be well balanced, so that you can get through the day with sufficient energy and relax well at night.

According to Chinese philosophy, the spirit (Shen) resides in the Liver and the Heart. The Shen is active during the day and rests at night due to the energy of the Liver and Heart. It is important that these two organs are in balance to get good rest at night. The Liver energy is active between 1 and 3 in the night, you often see that people wake up around this time. After 3 hours the Lung energy takes over, so sleep problems around that time may be related to the Lung’s system.

Sleep medication is not an ideal solution due to the risk of addiction and side effects.
Acupuncture can be the solution to your sleeping problems.
